JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • This position ensures that Emory University students comply with prematriculation requirements as defined by the CDC and the American College Health Association.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing, the Executive Director and other staff to create and maintain policies and procedures as they relate to the immunization compliance program.
  • Provides care to Emory University Students in need of travel consultations and allergy injections on an as needed basis.
  • Coordinates and participates in the review of all existing and new student immunization records.
  • Reviews and implements policies associated with immunization compliance.
  • Administers immunizations according to student requirements and ACIP recommendations.
  • Coordinates and implements off-site immunization sessions for selected student populations.
  • Provides oversight of the immunization compliance team.
  • Enters and verifies immunization information into the EMR per policy.
  • Monitors Emory University Student Health Services (EUSHS) staff immunization compliance.
  • Responsible for the vaccine inventory and associated supplies.
  • Monitors currency and supplies of vaccine information materials.
  • Serves as a resource to other staff concerning travel and immunization issues.
  • Maintains familiarity with evolving recommendations concerning immunization and traveler's health.
  • Collects and oversees the data management and QI aspects of the Immunization Compliance initiative, including noncompliant, declination and medical exemption data.
  • Assists in the Annual Influenza campaign.
  • Maintains and expands standing orders as directed by providers.
  • Provides travel consultation to students based on established protocols and guidelines and/or supports those who do.
  • Oversees the Immunization Compliance team.
  • Oversees immunization, travel and allergy nurse and LPN team.
  • Administers allergy injections per student's allergist orders.
  • Participates in continuing education activities.
  • Chairs the Immunization Compliance Team monthly meetings.
  • Attends CORE meetings which represents the Quality Improvement management team of the organization.
  • Provides insight and input with regards to areas of allergy, immunization compliance and travel.
  • Opportunities for QI projects and presentations to this group and campus wide.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia.
  • Five years of experience as an RN.
  • A BSN is preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Experience in a Travel and Immunization Clinic setting is required.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
