This position will serve as the manager for projects in the storytelling unit, which produces creative products for The Carter Center’s communications team. In this capacity, they will plan, manage, and deliver print, video and online pieces and campaigns. As the team’s manager, the individual will play the lead role in managing the Storytelling Team’s planning calendar as well as building a roster of external freelancers, agencies, and creatives. The individual also manages vendor RFPs, contracts, and invoices, and keeps multiple complex projects moving forward from an operational standpoint.

- Plans, manages, and delivers print, video, and online pieces and campaigns.

- Manages the Storytelling team's comprehensive planning calendar and supports the team on project management and logistics.
- Collaborates with Communications colleagues and subject matter experts to facilitate projects and ensure timelines and action plans are accomplished.
- Prepares and assists in budget analyses.
- Participates in long-range financial planning, trending, and budgeting.
- Ensures the integrity of financial reporting so that annual budget projections are accurate.
- Manages contracts and invoices for an ever-growing roster of freelance creatives and agencies.
- Researches agencies and creative contractors and reviews vendor pitches to determine which are worthy of follow-up.
- Negotiates with vendors to ensure fair pricing.
- Often serves as the frontline account manager with outside contractors to ensure that creative projects match Carter Center program requests and meet Carter Center standards.
- Maintains an up-to-date database of vendors to facilitate RFP and contracting processes.
- Coordinates efficient office procedures in support of program activities.
- Stays abreast of market trends and new developments to ensure Carter Center is able to procure and retain top freelance talent.
- Photos, Videos, and Creative Excellence: Provides onsite technical and creative support for Carter Center photo and video shoots to ensure we secure high-quality assets.
- Organizes and maintains photo, video, and audio assets in a secure and easy-to-use system to ensure team members and the wider organization have access to the tools of digital storytelling.
- Seeks out potential new platforms and software that the Center should consider adopting to stay at the forefront of digital storytelling.
- Provides logistics and operational support to the six-person Storytelling team. Interacts regularly with Carter Center staff across the organization to field, vet and fulfill requests for creative products and to help support the creative excellence of events and creative products.
- Works with vendors and partners to help deliver Storytelling products.
- Must use appropriate discretion and protocol in interactions with all individuals, internal and external.
- Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, including child safeguarding.
- Maintains professional growth and development of self by identifying educational/training programs, professional organizations, activities, and resources to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading-edge expertise.
- Performs related responsibilities as needed.
- A bachelor's degree in communications, business, or marketing and five years of experience in media, journalism, public relations, advertising, corporate communications, or project management or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in a nonprofit communications department.
- Superior project management and organizational skills.
- Digital media and database experience.
- Previous experience working with PR and creative agencies.
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-intensity setting.
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint skills.
- Familiarity with project-management tools such as Asana or Trello.
