SUMMARY:
The Senior Program Associate (SPA) supports the Mental Health Program’s Global Behavioral Health (GBH) pillar, focusing primarily on the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of program activities. The SPA contributes to the design and implementation of operational research as well as its knowledge production and dissemination. The SPA plays a role in ensuring coordination and synergies across MHP pillars and internally across departments at The Carter Center. The SPA reports to the Associate Director, GBH.
Key responsibilities include developing project and proposal concepts and budgets, monitoring expenditures, grant-writing, drafting project materials, synthesizing knowledge and research, corresponding with partners, and other communications priorities. The SPA assists the Associate Director and Program Lead to ensure the implementation and achievement of Liberia sustainability targets including relevant support to projects or partnerships. The SPA supports the growth of thematic workstreams prioritized by the program.
The SPA works closely with country and Atlanta staff, students, consultants, and external experts to achieve project goals. He/She/They may provide supervision to students supporting MHP. This position is based in Atlanta and includes 15-20% domestic and international travel.
