SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of an Associate Director, the Program Associate organizes, coordinates, and plans operational facets of the Human Rights Program's Human Rights House project that focuses on working with Congolese civil society organizations to address human rights issues in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Program Associate will work with relevant Atlanta and DRC staff, consultants, and external experts to achieve project goals and ensure the effective and efficient management of project operations. With oversight, s/he will manage relevant budgeting, accounting and expenditure tracking, grant and sub- grant awards, and program files. S/he will coordinate the preparation of narrative and financial reports and grant or project proposals. S/he may assist in identifying funding resources and will contribute to the development of project strategies and initiatives along with Atlanta and DRC staff. The Program Associate will ensure close communication and collaboration between Atlanta and DRC staff. With other project staff, the Program Associate may assist in developing and conducting trainings. S/he may represent the program at international meetings and conferences, and network with affiliated groups. This position will work with Program Assistants to provide administrative support to the program, such as gathering and processing invoices; reviewing smart lists and ledgers; printing, distributing, filing, and archiving reports; and handling logistics, agendas, and relevant materials for meetings, conferences, and travel. The Program Associate will engage with graduate students, interns, and volunteers. Includes occasional travel to the region. Due to travel requirements, participation in Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) will be required. This position is based in Atlanta, GA.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines. The Carter Center reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. The Carter Center requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption.
