Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assists in managing administrative activities associated with research projects including training and supervision of personnel, grant and budget preparation, data management and statistical analysis and adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Assists in preparing budgets, monitors expenditures and prepares financial reports.
  • Manages databases including data collection, coding, analysis and storage.
  • Assists in developing and submitting grant proposals; monitors grant expenditures and advises principal investigator of changes in reporting or accounting requirements.
  • Serves as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, government agencies and product representatives.
  • Oversees the preparation of operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures project is administered according to research protocol.
  • May assist in recruiting and interviewing patients/subjects, developing and conducting tests and surveys, gathering or abstracting data or making presentations.
  • May conduct literature searches and assist with publications.
  • May supervise staff by orienting, training and giving them ongoing performance feedback.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • May support PI in submitting documents pertaining to material transfer agreements.
  • In collaboration with PI, may manage travel schedule and arrange for transportation.
  • This is a 30 hour position.

Specific job duties for Dr. Eric Sorscher’s laboratory:

  • Navigate contract agreements and regulatory requirements and distribute necessary information to appropriate personnel.
  • Oversee budgets, billing, requisitions, internal payments, and other financial matters for a laboratory with over $12 million in funding.
  • Serve as liaison with the CF Foundation, CF Board of Trustees, NIH, FDA, pharmaceutical companies, GRA, and collaborating institutions and individuals in Canada, US, and Europe.
  • Manage complexities and administrative challenges involved in drug discovery projects and FDA/IND preparation, such as development and submission of grant proposals, monitoring grant expenditures, identifying changes in reporting or accounting requirements, etc.
  • Prepare Data Monitoring Committee agendas, organize meetings, and be an interface between collaborators in multi-site clinical trials.
  • Arrange travel and accommodation for conferences, presentations, and site reviews.
  • Prepare and route MTAs, CDAs, Intellectual Property Disclosures and patent applications.
  • Facilitate interactions with private foundations, Tech Transfer Offices, IRB, IACUC, NIH, and others.
  • Assist with generation and submission of manuscripts, presentations, regulatory forms, correspondence, visa/work permits, and letters of recommendation.
  • Oversee preparation of operational, statistical, and financial reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Recommend improvements to laboratory policies and processes.
  • Assist in determining effective strategies for promoting/recruiting research participants.
  • Serve as a resource and facilitate regular communication between all sites and investigators in collaborative clinical trials.
  • Communicate with external referrals, including interested individuals and referring physicians seeking information about clinical trials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a science discipline, business management, or related field and two years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Person in this role will serve as liaison to delicate collaborations, including emails and document preparation.

NOTE: Functions essential to being performed primarily on campus and role may have ability to work from home on average 1-2 days per week.
