Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus in Oxford Georgia, Oxford College of Emory University invites candidates to apply for the Senior Director for Campus Culture, Belonging, and Engagement position. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Collaborates with the Dean of Oxford College, administrative colleagues, and relevant constituencies to develop an annual diversity, belonging, and community engagement plan, setting goals for the academic year and working collaboratively to achieve its execution.
  • Develops programming for students, staff, faculty, and administrators related to cultural competency, anti-bias, and the importance of forming an inclusive community.
  • Serves as the central point person for addressing and helping to resolve issues that arise related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Assesses and aligns current DEI programs and initiatives across all areas of the College.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff search committees, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the Office of Human Resources to ensure best hiring practices that produce a diverse pool of candidates and finalists.
  • Collaborates with leadership in the Oxford Center for Teaching and Scholarship on faculty development programming related to inclusive pedagogy, managing conflict in the classroom, and more.
  • Partners with staff members within the Oxford Office of Campus Life to serve as a resource for addressing the concerns of students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds (e.g., religious, socioeconomic, racial, gender/sexual identity, national origin, individuals with disabilities, etc.).
  • Partners with the Senior Associate Dean of Advancement to engage donors and alumni from diverse backgrounds and strengthen relationships.
  • Attends Leadership Team meetings to support the infusion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging considerations in all policy and operational aspects of Oxford College operations.
  • Partners with the Director of Community Relations to foster and cultivate relationships with members of the Oxford and Covington communities.
  • Partners with the Director of Grants and Strategic Engagement to develop and support grant proposals.
  • Supervises administrative assistant and student-facing Director of DEI.
  • Serves on the university-wide Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion's Executive Leadership Committee.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as designated by the Dean.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree and five years of extensive, demonstrated program manager or director experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion activities, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience successfully developing, advancing, and institutionalizing strategic diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging programs and/or initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with a variety of constituencies to implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging training and education programs in the legal field or higher education.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree is preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
