The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing has a need for a part-time Family Nurse Practitioner to work with the In MOTION project. This position will require some light traveling to and from various community sites in and outside of the Metro Atlanta, at after-hours, in non-traditional clinical settings. Weekly communication will be required with the clinic manager, project director, and project manager of the Emory In MOTION project, which funds the position.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Provides primary care to patients. Assists in the evaluation and treatment of patients.
- Conducts patient interviews, and collects and interprets diagnostic data.
- May perform physical examinations and specialized procedures under the direction of a physician.
- Documents the delivery of care in the individual's medical records.
- Provides patient education and trains other health care professionals.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Functions as a clinical expert and role model in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a specific patient population in a community-based, mobile health environment, under the delegating authority by the delegating physician as required by law.
- Demonstrates expertise as a practitioner, teacher, manager, and researcher, with emphasis on demonstrating mastery of practical and theoretical knowledge in clinical situations.
- Collaborates with clinical partners and academic colleagues in developing and implementing the mobile health unit's mission, vision, and goals.
- Participates in clinical precepting and evaluation of pre and post-licensure nursing students.
- Monitors the appropriateness of patient care and staff/student adherence to documentation standards.
- Conducts interdisciplinary conferences with patients/family/the care team to resolve patient related issues.
- Identifies, develops, conducts, and documents patient, family and community education.
- Identifies recurring and unusual clinical problems and recommends procedural changes to eliminate or resolve them.
- Participates in research activities and uses results to improve the delivery of patient care.
- Assists less experienced staff in the interpretation of diagnostic data and in addressing abnormal physical findings and atypical behavioral responses.
- Serves as a resource of advanced clinical knowledge in a particular specialty.
- Participates in orientation and continuing professional development activities as required or necessary by the clinic.
- Performs related responsibilities deemed necessary by the clinic as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Licensed as a nurse and approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the state of Georgia.
- Two years of clinical nursing experience.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
