Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Defining the requirements and leading development of the Unified Data Platform.
  • Design and develop the data platform to efficiently and cost effectively address various data needs across Emory University and Emory Healthcare.
  • Assist in employing software across the entire cutting-edge data platform, including event driven data processing, storage, and serving through scalable and highly available APIs, using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Change how we think, act, and utilize our data by enabling exploratory and quantitative analytics, data mining, and discovery.
  • Think of new ways to help make our data platform more scalable, resilient, and reliable and then work across our team to put your ideas into action.
  • Help us stay ahead of the curve by working closely with data engineers, API developers, DevOps, researchers, and analysts to design systems which can scale elastically.
  • Help build and maintain foundational data products across Emory Healthcare and Emory University.
  • Work closely with data analysts and Emory stakeholders to make data easily accessible and understandable to them.
  • Ensure data quality by implementing re-usable data quality frameworks.
  • Work closely with various other data engineering teams to roll out new capabilities.
  • Build process and tools to maintain AI / ML pipelines in production.
  • Develop and enforce data engineering, security, data quality standards through automation.
  • Be responsible for cloud cost and improving efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years working in healthcare (preferred), Life Science (preferred), and/or Academic environments.
  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling data platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud data technologies including Azure, Snowflake, AWS, Apache Airflow.
  • Passion for working with data and deriving insights to answer business questions that drive actions and decision-making.
  • Experience with programming languages, e.g. SQL, Python.
  • Experienced in one or more automation and scheduling tools (e.g. Airflow).
  • Experience leveraging creative analytics techniques and output to tell a story to drive business decisions.
  • Champions the capabilities and benefits of analytical data assets.
  • Partner effectively across departments and stakeholders.

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
