Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, coordinates, and is accountable for major departmental divisions/sub-units administrative and clinical activities including grants and contracts, budget development and planning for total budgets of $4 million or greater, financial analysis, data processing operations, and human resources management for a division or other department sub-unit with teaching, research and clinical service responsibilities.
  • Reports directly to the Division or Unit Director and indirectly to the Department Administrator and Chair.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

SPECIFIC DETAILS:

 

Services: Business Management Support Services for two academic divisions: Emergency Medicine & Neonatology. Supporting the academic, research and clinical mission of the divisions and faculty, including but not limited to:

  • Clinical Faculty & Staff Support – provide onboarding/credentialing assistance for new faculty and staff.

  • Hughes Spalding & Grady Deployment/Finance/Liaison – partner and meet with Hughes Spalding & Grady leadership to understand projected volumes and FTE needs for department. Also, help track/manage the 1) Hughes Spalding ED & Grady Neonatology Discretionary account, 2) Hughes Spalding ED & Grady NICU Extra-duty Tracking, & 3) FTE variances. Participate in annual Scope of Service/budget conversations.

  • Revenue Cycle Analysis – understand the charge, payment, RVU, coding optimization and volume goals for Hughes Spalding ED & Grady NICU. Help explain variances.

  • Meetings – meet periodically with Emory/Hughes Spalding/Grady team to discuss deployment, coverage, faculty and strategy for the department.

  • Assist in preparation of Division of Emergency Medicine & Neonatology faculty hiring packages, and in faculty recruitment coordination.

  • Manage the Travel, Dues, and Journal (TDJ) funds for the Division of Emergency Medicine & Neonatology faculty.

  • Manage and provide reporting on the division-level discretionary accounts available to the Division Chief.

  • Other Duties As Needed – Grady FTR Follow Up, Backup Coverage Modeling, Coverage Needs, Incentive/Quality Metrics, and other business support as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance or related science field and five years of professional business or management experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
