KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in coordinating, providing input for, monitoring and improving the human resources and business operational activities.
  • Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of activities and special projects affecting area's operations.
  • Coordinates or assists in preparing departmental budgets and forecasts of future budget requirements.
  • May ensure that awarded grants conform to defined budget parameters.
  • Negotiates new and renewal contracts with vendors.
  • Directs logistical and clerical support activities, and coordinates specific data collection efforts and special projects.
  • Designs and generates reports.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

The CHAMPS program seeks a Business Manager to provide support for the Executive Leadership and Business Operations Units. The individual would be primarily responsible for program and human resources coordination, as well as global travel and event coordination. This position works under the guidance of the Senior Associate Director of Business Operations. The individual would be responsible for operational support to all CHAMPS Program Office team members, assist with staff onboarding and offboarding, coordinate meetings and compile notes, coordinate with Emory University service departments such as HR and IT, assist with project management frameworks and workflows, assist with development and coordination of standard operating procedures, assist in coordinating international travel bookings including establishing and maintaining travel reservations, process travel reimbursements, and other work duties as assigned. May travel internationally 1-2 times a year. Competitive candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills, have work experience relating to global health or other international work as well as experience in maternal and child health, and have experience with international travel booking.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field and three years of professional business or management experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Some positions in this classification may require previous supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Project management skills and/or training, particularly experience with SmartSheet.
  • Knowledge and experience working in global health programs.
  • Experience with international travel and coordinating travelers.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate meetings.
  • Exceptional software skills (i.e., Power Point, Excel, Word, SharePoint).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good working relationships.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable with domestic and international travel.
  • Be detailed, flexible, proactive, and intuitive.
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth.

  • Willingness to travel internationally 1-2 times a year

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
