The mission of the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) is to advance knowledge about access, delivery, outcomes, and cost of health care to improve population health and promote health equity. The HPM Department is ranked 8th among the HPM departments nationally by US News and World Report and is a leader in innovative research and educational programs to train the next generation of scholars and professionals in health policy, health services research, and health care management. The HPM Department comprises 18 primary faculty members and over 25 adjunct faculty members affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Carter Center, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the Georgia Department of Public Health, and other leading health care organizations. HPM departmental faculty has nearly $30 million in extramural research funding from federal and nonfederal sources. The Department also has robust training programs that include more than 130 Master of Public Health students with concentrations in Policy and Management, ten Master of Science in Public Health students, and eleven Doctor of Philosophy students.
