Under the leadership of Dr. Branden Grimmett, the inaugural vice provost for career and professional development and associate dean of the College, The Pathways Center helps Emory students and alumni reach their full potential through integrated career services, undergraduate research, national scholarships and fellowships, Pre-Health advising, and experiential learning. Our division includes a total of 43 team members, 7 of which make up the Pathways leadership team. The Pathways Center serves as a national model for higher education in seamlessly preparing students and connecting them to resources.


Reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Research, the ideal candidate will serve as a member of the Undergraduate Research Programs (URP) team, which is primarily responsible for offering information, advising, initiatives, and resources to support both students and faculty involved in producing undergraduate research. Current initiatives of this program include efforts to expand campus-wide undergraduate research opportunities and increase awareness of how these opportunities impact student engagement and success.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in directing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs.
  • Represents the organization at meetings, conferences and other events.
  • May develop and present speeches or presentations to generate or enhance awareness of program(s).
  • Provides technical support by evaluating established processes, conducting training, attending operational meetings and networking with affiliated groups.
  • Monitors progress toward achieving established objectives and deadlines.
  • Participates in planning, administering and monitoring program related budgets.
  • Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable.
  • May serve on, hold office in, or chair committees.
  • May write publishable articles and papers.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Oversees or assists in developing operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures required records and documentation are maintained.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program(s) and five years of program related experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as communications representative for team and directly collaborates with Associate Director of Communications in Pathways Center to create a narrative and bolster update for URP platforms
  • Liaises with Associate Director of Communications to identify key administrative processes for the creation and maintenance of cohesive, marketing-publicity plans for events, programs, and initiatives
  • Oversees multifaceted projects using project management system to promote efficiency and refers team members to use system for individual projects where applicable
  • Supervises a growing team of professionals/paraprofessionals including a Program Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, graduate and undergraduate student workers.
  • Provides guidance to administrative assistant and program coordinator to maintain detailed documentation of URP program files and records
  • Provides input to administrative assistant, program coordinator, and designated graduate assistants toward managing facets of event planning
  • Takes lead role in the administration of URP’s application and review processes for programs as designated SLATE Super User; generates related data inquiries and troubleshoots when necessary
  • Collaborates with Associate Director to leverage quality improvements for evaluation of key operational facets and established processes for academic and granting programs; directly inputs toward continuous improvements and strategic planning
  • Provides strategic support for implementation and maintenance of premier academic and granting programs
  • Directs designated graduate assistant and program coordinator to supervise student-ambassadors in the Research Ambassador Program each semester; expands program initiatives for increased utility and visibility
  • Develops relationships with other Pathways offices and academic departments to ensure maximum usage of resources available to students
  • Assists the Director in developing and maintaining relationships with alumni, donors, and other interested parties that seek to support URP initiatives
  • Represents the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
