A translational research lab at Emory University and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is seeking a Assistant Academic Research Scientist interested in pediatric sarcomas. We are looking for an intelligent and highly motivated individual that will provide significant scientific expertise to our laboratory studying the development and progression of pediatric sarcomas. The applicant should be proficient in basic research and molecular methods including cell culture, western blotting, qPCR, etc., and familiar with using animal model systems. Knowledge of genetics, molecular biology and cancer biology is also preferred. Potential projects for the post-doctoral associate include those related to gaining insights into the molecular pathogenesis of sarcoma development and metastasis, as well as further our understanding of therapeutic resistance, microenvironmental factors and transcriptional regulation. The applicant should be capable of performing independent work, but also be willing to assist others and help mentor more inexperienced/junior members of the laboratory. In addition, integration of applicant’s own prior research experience and independent ideas will be highly encouraged and considered. The applicant should have strong writing and oral communication skills and be willing to participate and present research at a variety of venues including laboratory meetings and conferences. The post-doctoral associate will meet with the PI on a regular basis to discuss research progress as well as any technical issues and outline of future directions.
Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.
