THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Senior Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for developing, integrating, and executing strategic communications, as well as marketing campaigns that enhance Oxford College's presence nationally and globally.
  • Collaborates with senior administration and various departments to advance Oxford College's mission and communicate its values effectively across all platforms.
  • Reports directly to the Dean of Oxford College and works collaboratively with the senior administrative team.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Leadership 

  • Drives the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the College's mission and enrollment goals.
  • Partners with Emory Marketing and Communications to cultivate a strong and unified brand identity.
  • Collaborates closely with the Dean and senior administration to ensure consistent and effective communication efforts.

Content Management 

  • Oversees the creation and curation of high-quality content across all channels, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with the College's visual identity and brand standards.
  • Leads the development of an effective content strategy to enhance SEO/SEM and audience engagement.
  • Regularly analyzes performance metrics for social media campaigns, using data to make informed decisions.

Team Leadership and Collaboration 

  • Leads and mentors the Marketing and Communications team, ensuring a harmonized approach to publications, social media, website content, and brand identity.
  • Encourages the professional development of department staff and manages the department's annual budget.
  • Works collaboratively with every member of the College community to promote its mission and philosophy.

Project and Budget Management 

  • Prepares and oversees the budget for marketing initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manages campaign development and project management for publications, advertising, social media, digital communications, marketing automation, and print services.

Brand Management 

  • Ensures the integrity and high quality of the College's image, tone, style, narrative, visual identity, and overall brand.
  • Advances the Oxford brand within and beyond the College community, including alumni, families, and the global community.
  • Guides the online narrative by approving content for the public sections of the College's platforms to ensure effective, state-of-the-art architecture and timely content production.

Proactive Communication 

  • Anticipates opportunities for strategic communications and proactively develop plans in consultation with the Dean.
  • Orchestrates and implements essential communications, including those for the Dean.

Social Media Strategy 

  • Leads the development of a comprehensive social media strategy to foster engagement and promote Oxford College's academic programs, events, and achievements.
  • Oversees the work of the multimedia content creator and assists with social media strategies to enhance the College's brand and increase its presence.

Interdepartmental Collaboration 

  • Engages seamlessly with admissions, Advancement & Alumni Engagement, Campus Life, and technology departments to ensure timely and strategic communication across the College.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of Oxford College.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, and seven years of professional experience in developing and executing marketing and communications strategies across various media, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in driving social media strategies and content development.
  • At least three years of experience managing full-time staff and contractors.
  • Strong relationships with media outlets, especially in higher education, and the ability to build new connections.
  • Experience with data analytics to assess impact and adapt strategies.
  • Understanding of brand standards and the ability to implement brand guidelines.
  • Experience with email automation platforms.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
