Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs, implements, and coordinates operational facets of a specific program.
  • Develops strategic plans and objectives that ensure the program's continued success, and develops evaluation methods to assess outcomes.
  • Conducts program research and ensures that the preparation of mandatory operational, statistical, and financial reports are accurate and factual, and that all reports comply with federal and state regulations and/or institutional policies.
  • Designs training programs and materials, conducts training sessions, and represents the program at various conferences, meetings, or seminars.
  • May plan, administer, or monitor the program's budget and/or grants, and conduct financial forecasting for the program.
  • May develop fundraising programs, including researching and identifying funding sources, and writing and submitting grant proposals.
  • Serves as a liaison to and interacts with other groups and organizations participating in the program or seeking knowledge of the program; may write and present speeches.
  • Maintains complete and accurate program records.
  • May serve on or chair various University committees.
  • May supervise program staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a field related to specified program areas and five years related program management experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a closely related field; 2 years of experience in MS program administration and development, or a related area.
  • Strong understanding of current trends and technologies in computer science.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and industry professionals. Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

Ability to elevate the Emory MS CS through a pivotal role enhancing curricula, student experiences, and meeting evolving needs of students and employers.

  • Curriculum: Assist faculty to assess curriculum and support faculty in developing new courses and concentrations that address emerging trends and industry needs.
  • Program Assessment: Conduct evaluations of program effectiveness through surveys, feedback from students and alumni, and industry benchmarks. Analyze data and provide actionable insights to enhance the program quality and relevance.
  • Student Support and Development: Develop and implement initiatives to support student success, including academic advising, career development resources, and mentorship programs. Monitor student progress and address any challenges or concerns related to their academic experience.
  • Faculty Collaboration: Work closely with faculty to support and incorporate new content and innovative teaching methods. Facilitate interdisciplinary conversations with other departments and programs to expand MS CS scope.
  • Administrative Duties: Oversee student enrollment, degree completion, and all operational matters. Liaise with Graduate School, Department, and Registrar offices. Prepare reports and documentation related to program metrics, including periodic reviews and budgetary needs.
  • Industry Engagement: Work with Laney Graduate School Director of Programs to foster relationships with tech companies, industry leaders, and professional organizations. Organize and coordinate guest lectures, workshops, and networking events with industry professionals/employers.
  • Alumni Engagement: Work with Laney Graduate School Senior Director of Advancement and Alumni Engagement to foster long-term relationships alumni of the program. Organize networking events with current students and alumni to further strengthen the CS MS community.
  • Program Promotion: Assist in development viewbooks and informational materials/websites/social media to attract prospective students and promote the program’s unique strengths. Represent the program at academic conferences, university events, and other recruiting occasions.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
