Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining the Emory Recycling Center building facility and equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul, disassembly, reassembly, and modifications to related Recycling Center equipment to ensure proper safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintains required record-keeping on all major equipment related to the Emory Recycling Center including: Shredder, Baler, Compactors, Conveyor Systems, Forklift, Scales, and Hydraulic Dumper.
  • Responsible for processing and supporting the handling and shredding of confidential documents.
  • In the absence of supervisor, serves as a liaison between Emory Recycles and the Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHSO) for HAZMAT issues and Emory Recycling Center facility audits and inspections.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of Emory Recycles Recycling Center.
  • This person will collaborate with all Emory Recycles and Waste team members to support and facilitate recycling services for the Emory enterprise, Emory auxiliary units, and any customers serviced by Emory Recycles.
  • Supports recycling pickup and drop-off activities.
  • Safe handling and processing, and storage of recycling materials.
  • Works with supervisor to ensure accurate weights on bales and bulk commodities and sales to end commodities markets.
  • Ensures that all materials are processed through a bill of lading system to reconcile weights and payments between vendors and Emory Recycles.
  • Collaborates with staff to ensure that materials are properly and safely handled when being transported to the Emory Recycling Center prior to processing.
  • Maintains a safe work environment, and works directly with supervisor to ensure levels of cleanliness are maintained at all times and supported by all team members.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of experience in an operations or logistics role in a recycling, waste management, document shredding, or related industry.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • Applicant must possess a current Georgia Drivers license and an insurable driving record as defined by Emory University Risk Management.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) certified facility.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
