The laboratory of Dr. Jacob Kohlmeier at Emory University is seeking an Academic Research Scientist to join our group and contribute to our research on cellular immunity to respiratory viruses. The position will primarily involve hands-on viral immunology research using human samples and animal models of influenza and parainfluenza virus infections. Experimental techniques used in our laboratory include isolation of immune cell from tissues, in vitro cell culture and cellular immune assays, high-parameter flow cytometry, single cell RNA/ATAC sequencing, and in vivo imaging. Additional responsibilities include assistance with day-to-day operations of the lab, training laboratory personnel, and administrative tasks. The ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team is essential.
The Academic Research Scientist functions as a highly skilled contributor/researcher and has significant authorship on publications and advanced knowledge and expertise of laboratory and experimental platforms necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs. Staff Scientists will have leadership responsibilities, and will oversee quality and training of other team members.
