We are currently seeking a Managing Senior Director of Foundation Relations - Central Advancement.
The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations team partners with schools and units across Emory University and Emory Healthcare to provide corporate and foundation fundraising and engagement through the development of mutually beneficial relationships. By working with faculty and university leadership, they create awareness of Emory’s distinctive strengths with a range of philanthropic organizations. This position will report to the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads, develops, and implements the strategic planning and management of relationships with local, national, and international foundation prospects.
- Creates and implements strategies for managing foundation prospects to maximize their charitable contributions in support of Emory's missions of education, research, and patient care.
- Leads this process with school/unit Development Directors, Deans, Faculty, and University Leadership.
- Works to expand the base of foundation prospects on a regional and national level for priority efforts within specific academic and business units and enterprise wide.
- Oversees full cycle of relationship building, cultivation, and solicitation of foundations in support of Emory.
- Partners with advancement officers, research/healthcare/school administrators, faculty, and Emory University and Emory Healthcare leadership to drive enterprise-wide efforts to increase philanthropic support from foundations.
- Proactively identifies, stewards, and cultivates an active portfolio of foundation prospects.
- Develops and negotiates school/unit programmatic project ideas for funding consideration aligning school/unit needs with foundation goals/interests.
- Leads meetings and partnerships between prospects, schools/units, and central administrative offices, including the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
- Ensures adherence to complex application and/or solicitation requirements as well as industry best practices.
- Oversees the creation of complex proposals, letters, briefings, and other fund-raising materials.
- Communicates and negotiates ideas in ways that are donor-centric, while also beneficial to Emory.
- Identifies potential foundation prospects to be researched to evaluate feasibility/alignment with interests/goals.
- Oversees maintenance of records and reports.
- Hosts campus visits.
- Manages a team within the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations responsible for foundation relationship management enterprise wide.
- Travels to meet with donors as needed.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Managing Senior Director may be required to:
- Meet department metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and eight years of experience in fundraising or a corporate and/or foundation setting with management experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful candidates will possess experience managing projects, budgets, and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.

- Experience working in a comprehensive campaign setting, including a strong track record of raising annual and major gifts from foundations.
- Prior experience in alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience reading, analyzing, designing, and executing fundraising processes and procedures.
- Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
