Description

The Senior Director of the Emory Drug Development Fund (EDDF) will manage a fund that supports Emory therapeutic drug discoveries with the primary goal of advancing technologies through development and expediting translation into therapeutics benefiting patients.

 

A successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to cultivate a diverse network to assess and manage intellectual property, develop and commercialize therapeutic drugs, and support entrepreneurship and new venture development in an academic setting.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, coordinates, and is responsible for major strategic, operational, and administrative activities for at least one EII operating unit or major program within central EII, including contracts and investments, budget planning, financial analysis and operations, intellectual property and conflict of interest management, and human resources.
  • Serves as a leader with operating unit or program decision-making authority, including overall budget development and strategy presentation responsibility.
  • Works with the Executive Director to develop business strategy including well-defined goals, prepare budget projections, mitigate financial risks, oversee operations, and monitor progress towards goals.
  • Develops initiatives to ensure the sustained growth of the operating unit or program.
  • Acts as a liaison between Emory leadership and scientific investigators, Office of Technology Transfer, Biolocity, Office of the General Counsel, and other administrative offices as appropriate to develop the operating unit or program.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree, preferably in business, finance, or related science field, and eight years of professional business or management experience, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
