Description

Under the direction of a Crew Leader, constructs, plants, maintains, and repairs new landscape areas in assigned sections of campus.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Operates ground maintenance equipment including lawn movers, trimmers, edgers, backpack and street blowers and pressure washer equipment.
  • Prunes trees and shrubs. Removes trash and debris from assigned areas of campus.
  • Monitors and activates irrigation systems. May apply fertilizer and pesticides to landscape areas.
  • May drive utility vehicles to and from worksites. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent. One year of landscape or grounds maintenance experience.
  • Some positions within this classification may require a valid Category 24 Ornamental and Turf Control Pesticide Applicators License from the Georgia Department of Agriculture or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
  • Some positions within this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license, an insurable driving record and the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist.
  • Ability to understand and follow communicated instructions.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.

  • Elimina basura y escombros de las áreas asignadas del campus.
  • Monitorea y activa los sistemas de riego.
  • Puede aplicar fertilizantes y pesticidas a áreas paisajísticas.
  • Puede conducir vehículos utilitarios hacia y desde los lugares de trabajo. Realiza responsabilidades relacionadas según sea necesario.

CALIFICACIONES MÍNIMAS:

  • Un diploma de escuela secundaria o equivalente. Un año de experiencia en mantenimiento de jardines o terrenos.
  • Algunos puestos dentro de esta clasificación pueden requerir una licencia válida de aplicación de pesticidas para el control de césped y ornamentales de Categoría 24 del Departamento de Agricultura de Georgia o la capacidad de obtener una certificación dentro de los seis meses posteriores al empleo.
  • Algunos puestos dentro de esta clasificación pueden requerir una licencia de conducir válida de Georgia, un historial de conducción asegurable y la capacidad de levantar 50 libras y de doblarse, agacharse y girar.
  • Capacidad para comprender y seguir instrucciones comunicadas.
