Winship is seeking qualified candidates for the Grants Management Specialist position. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Works closely with department leadership and research principal investigators to organize and produce thorough and high-quality research grant applications geared towards requesting funding for research.
  • Working simultaneously with multiple individual principal investigators, responsible for facilitating submission planning and cross-area and multidisciplinary collaborations to respond to specific funding opportunity announcements relating to grants.
  • Responsible for forming, coordinating, scheduling, and directing diverse teams for the purpose of submitting R01-level and more complex grant applications.
  • Develops submission plans, documents meetings and tracks action items.
  • Facilitates brainstorming and proposal development activities.
  • Interprets and explains funding agency and institutional requirements.
  • Collaborates with scientists and research administrators to organize information into appropriate formats and assists with reviewing and editing applications.
  • Creates and maintains boilerplate templates and resources.
  • Drafts portions of proposals to include budgets and budget justifications, facilities, and resources, biosketches, and other required documents except for those specifically pertaining to the scientific research strategy.
  • Provides guidance in budget preparation and interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements.
  • Organizes and facilitates scientific and editorial review of proposals.
  • Creates and maintains a library of components of successfully submitted grants for the purpose of re-using components in subsequent applications.
  • Keeps abreast of the network and scope of the organization's research portfolio.
  • Stays apprised of institutional research resources available to researchers.
  • Reviews, inventories, and posts funding opportunity announcements.
  • Creates project database to track resource inputs and funding outcomes.
  • Generates reports as requested and compiles other required data.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience such as developing scientific collaborative research grant programs, grant proposal and grant writing experience with particular focus on federal grants, budget development and forecasting, compliance, resource development, and data management.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
