The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate Director of Donor Relations to join our team.


The Donor Relations team is responsible for stewardship strategies for all donors, Emory’s loyalty societies, and those who give to specific campaigns or projects. In addition, they design stewardship for major and principal-level donors across the university and partner on donor-specific recognition and stewardship plans. This position will be involved in enhancing the stewardship experience for $1M+ lifetime donors through the development of individualized stewardship plans. This position will report to the Director of Donor Relations.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs, manages, and executes programs designed to enhance and strengthen Emory's relationships with donors and significant donor prospects.
  • Programs may include donor acknowledgment, stewardship reporting, donor recognition, donor engagement, or events.
  • Acts as strategic partner to Emory's schools and units to identify and implement projects for priority donors and programs.
  • Determines goals and strategies for responsible programs, and oversees the evaluation of outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Assists in the strategic planning of the overall donor relations program.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Senior Associate Director may be required to:

  • Manage the collection of impact information from campus partners and compellation of stewardship reports for high-level donors.
  • Help develop reporting strategy with the implementation of Mythos to increase personalization in our priority reports
    Assess, create, and implement new or improved processes for department functions/initiatives.
  • Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
  • Provide support for team projects.
  • Maintain knowledge/expertise of best practices and current trends for donor relations. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and four years of experience in donor relations, stewardship, fundraising, or alumni engagement OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Successful candidates will have extensive experience managing projects, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Highly organized with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, careful attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.
  • A creative thinker with experience working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Comfortable working closely with university leadership and high-level donors.
  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines. 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
