The Marcus Autism Center at Emory University is seeking highly qualified and motivated research assistants to join the Pediatric Neuroimaging Research Core. This two-year position provides a unique opportunity to gain clinical and research experience working on longitudinal MRI studies of infants at high and low likelihood for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and school-age children with and without ASD. Past clinical research coordinators have gone off to medical school or clinical psychology graduate programs.
The Clinical Research Coordinator handles or assists with the administrative activities generally associated with the conduct of clinical trials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains data pertaining to research projects, completes source documents/case report forms, and performs data entry.
- Assists with patient recruitment.
- Attends study meetings.
- Orders and maintains equipment and supplies.
- Reviews medical records and/or conducts screenings for recruitment of study participants, performs interviews and QOL questionnaires.
- Collects study specimen according to protocol which may include phlebotomy, processing, and preparation for shipping.
- Coordinates services, schedules procedures, creates and maintains case packages, and monitors charges.
- Assists with quality assurance and tracks regulatory submissions.
- Performs related approved responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- Collect MRI and eye-tracking data from infants and children during research sessions.
- Conduct data entry, quality assurance, and management using established protocols.
- Coordinate participant scheduling, family visits, and consent processes.
- Administer caregiver interviews and support behavioral assessments.
- Participate in professional development activities, such as autism-related grand rounds (twice monthly), a summer-intensive seminar on autism research (one week), and weekly lab meetings.
- Participate in outreach activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED and three years of administrative support experience.
- Or two years of college in a scientific, health related, or business administration program and one year of admin support or customer service experience.
- Or be a licensed as a practical nurse (LPN) and one year admin support or one year of licensed practical nursing experience.
- Or a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, MD or PhD in a scientific, health related or business administration program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful past applicants have had diverse backgrounds including bachelor's in psychology, social work, neuroscience, and other human services-related fields.
- Some prior experience working or volunteering in a research environment involving human subjects.
- Demonstrates strong interest in family centered care.
- Demonstrates strong interest in neuroimaging and/or neurodevelopmental research.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data management tools.
STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience working with infants, or individuals with autism in any capacity (clinical research, childcare, or volunteer).
- Experience with neuroimaging or eye-tracking technology.
- Basic understanding of research tools such as REDCap, SPSS, or MATLAB.
- Commitment to a two-year Position.
This position is intended to support clinical research and all clinical training requirements must be tracked and monitored through Emory Healthcare under the credentialing category of Clinical Researcher.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
