Responsible for the operational management and administrative direction of assessment services within Campus Life. Directs the long-term strategic assessments, provides day-to-day guidance for data gathering operations, and supports institutional data-collection goals. Independently prepares and analyzes data to support storytelling to showcase impact and bolster communications. Designs, manages, and analyzes large complex data sets, automates internal and external reports, and develops advanced metrics and analyses to inform university stakeholders. Monitors and evaluates new tools, processes, and software to enhance research, analysis, and reporting capabilities. Supports Campus Life's contribution to data governance, retention, and persistence. Oversees the interdepartmental assessment working group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the development of analytic and data reporting policies, systems, and processes to provide stakeholders with the data to make informed decisions.
- Leverages data to uncover insights and trends. Utilizes data storytelling techniques for key stakeholders.
- Ensures process and systems are in place to provide relevant, timely, and accurate institutional information to university administrators, the university community at large, and external agencies; provides institution-wide support for obtaining data and performs analyses in response to specific needs.
- Assists in the development of survey instruments and focus groups, the implementation of methodologies.
- Develops and enhances standardized data tools to support outcomes.
- Works closely with Technology Services to deploy integrated data management and assessment solutions.
- Documents processes for data collection and usage, seeking efficiencies where possible but also developing documentation to protect data integrity and transparency.
- Develops and maintains key partnerships with internal and external entities.
- Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
- Supports staff education on assessment best practices and oversees interdepartmental assessment working group.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience, or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to concurrently manage multiple complex, long-term projects required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in fields related to decision science and analytics, with prior experience in institutional research or institutional effectiveness, or with skills in data management and statistics (Excel PivotTables, STATA, SPSS, SAS, R, EAB Tableau).
- Proficiency in Tableau and/or other BI software tools as well as standard Office tools is necessary.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- Capable of detailing project requirements, outlining timelines for completion, and identifying necessary information for successful execution.
- Proficiency in using surveying tools and performing data analysis with SQL, Python, and Excel, tailored to the specific use case or application.
- Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing surveys is preferred.
- Knowledge of data collection and retrieval methods for quality assurance, performance and outcome measures is necessary.
