Description

Children Without Worms (CWW) is based at the Neglected Tropical Diseases Support Center (NTD-SC) within the Task Force for Global Health in Decatur, GA, an affiliate of Emory University. CWW envisions a world free of intestinal worms so communities may thrive and develop to their full potential. We work closely with national implementing partners, pharmaceutical donors, non-governmental organizations, the World Health Organization, and private-public coalitions. CWW’s work focuses on three pillars: (1) Country Support – We support and build the capacity of national STH programs to ensure effective and efficient delivery of interventions; (2) Partnerships & Advocacy – We build consensus among a broad group of stakeholders to advance STH control; and (3) Technical Leadership – We provide scientific leadership and advocate for evidence-based approaches to controlling intestinal worm infections.

 

The Public Health Program Associate, under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges. Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research. Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions. May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues. May work with study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards. Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings. May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives. Performs related responsibilities as required.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs, implements, coordinates operational facets of a specific program and its related activities.
  • Manages work plans that are designed to accomplish program goals and objectives, and implements changes for improvement and efficiency.
  • Makes decisions on behalf of the program based on critical analyses of operational/statistical reports, financial data and budget forecasts, and outside trends and factors related to the program.
  • May plan, administer or monitor the program's budget, financial management, and/or grants.
  • Takes a leadership role on program-related committees and teams.
  • May develop fund raising initiatives, including researching and identifying funding sources and writing and submitting grant proposals.
  • Conducts program research and ensures that mandatory operational and statistical reports are fact-based and comply with regulations.
  • Serves as liaison with other groups and organizations participating in the program or seeking knowledge of the program, and may write and give speeches/presentations at conferences, university functions, or before various boards.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Ensures that complete and accurate program records are kept and maintained.
  • Support general program activities, including responding to donor inquiries, organizing meetings, and preparing reports.
  • Manage compliance tasks, such as submitting reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Draft and edit protocols, reports, and proposals to meet program objectives and donor requirements.
  • Organize key meetings including planning logistics and agendas.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from the TFGH, the Director, supervisor, and donors.
  • Keep the CWW website updated with accurate and current program information.
  • Write clear and concise reports, proposals, and responses for donors and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and coordinate with consultants.
  • Under supervisor guidance, assist in planning and preparing for STH surveys, and contribute to technical tasks such as data analysis, report preparation, and protocol development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the program's goals and operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to specified program areas and four years related program management experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct in research and program implementation.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn tools for data collection and analysis, such as ODK and R.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
