Emory Law seeks an innovative and collaborative person to support the work of the Dean’s Office by providing direct support to the faculty administrative team as well as bringing together and leading its Events team and its established team in Program and Academic Support Services. The Events and Faculty Services Manager will work strategically and operationally with the events team to manage the planning, development and delivery of events.  The position also provides oversight to the day-to-day operations of faculty services.  Additionally, the position has responsibility for working at the direction of the Chief of Staff to provide support to the law school faculty administration. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, dynamic team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, operational and supervising management skills, and have the ability to interact well with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:   

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, implement, and coordinate operational facets of school of law events and faculty support operations.
• Supervise program staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
• Develop strategic/operational plans and objectives that ensure the continued success and financial stability of events and faculty services management
• Conduct research and ensure that the preparation of mandatory operational and financial reports are accurate and factual, and that all reports comply with federal and state regulations and/or institutional policies.
• Provide direct support in day-to-day operational needs to faculty and staff administrators.
• Assist in planning, administering, and monitoring assigned budgets and grants, inclusive of financial forecasting for events.
• Serves as a liaison to and interacts with other members of the Emory Law community as they work with resources from the university
• Communicate with others as a point of escalation to resolve issues brought forward by employees.  
• Mentor and support staff in their positions, both direct and indirect reports.
• Maintains complete and accurate program, fiscal and personnel records.
• May serve on or chair various committees.
• Develop evaluation methods to assess outcomes.
• Perform related responsibilities and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in an often fast-paced environment, in a role that calls for both considerable self-directed initiative and a service-centric approach to getting the job done. In addition, they will have warmth and approachability, solid judgment and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to plan, meet deadlines, and multitask. Some evening and occasional weekend work will be required.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor's degree in a field related to specified program areas and
• five years related program management experience.
• An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be considered.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Recent experience working in higher education and/or events management,
• Previous experience leading teams or directly supervising staff,  
• Proven skill in the use of business technology with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook and other common office technology and software,
• Communication and interpersonal skills to include change management and dispute resolution,
• Comfort and skill in providing administrative and service support, navigating change and conflicting priorities and
• Experience working with a variety of stakeholders with different approaches to a common goal.
