Description

Contributes toward the development and implementation of the Office of Compliance's various programs, as well programs managed by the Office.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Contributes to the development and oversight of the Office of Ethics and Compliance Programs which may include the following: 

  • Emory's non-Research Conflict of Interest program, Programs Involving Minors, Oversight and administration of the University's Trustline (3rd party hosted anonymous reporting hotline), Compliance Partners Network, Compliance Assessments, and University Policy Governance. 
  • Assists with the Office of Ethics and Compliance communications and outreach initiatives. 
  • Participates in the conduct of investigations into compliance matters and potential policy violations. 
  • Participates in the delivery, oversight, and ensuring completion of compliance training and education. 
  • Assists in the implementation of compliance initiatives, including providing assistance in the development and review of policies, standard operating procedures, training manuals, and content for in-person and on-line educational materials. 
  • Contributes to the implementation of the University's annual compliance plan and overall compliance program to ensure conformance with the US Sentencing Guidelines' seven elements of an effective compliance program. 
  • Responds to compliance inquires and correspondence. 
  • Develops and prepares quarterly statistical reports and summations on compliance audit program activities for submission to internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and the Board as needed. 
  • Tracks and regularly reports on Compliance Program metrics. 
  • Coordinates responses to identified compliance questions, concerns, or federal/state inquiries or investigations. 
  • Assists with drafting, updating, and implementing Compliance Program and related internal policies and procedures. 
  • Reads, understands, and maintains current knowledge of complex federal and state laws, regulations, rules, and bulletins applicable to the Compliance Program. 
  • Maintains Compliance Program dashboards and assists with evaluation of Compliance Program effectiveness. 
  • Assists with special project preparation and follow-up, as needed, under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer. 
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, a science or healthcare discipline or a related field and three years of legal, higher education, or compliance work experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • An understanding of federal and state regulations pertaining to the operation and the administration of compliance programs, including regulations governing the operations of institutions of higher education.
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in business administration, a science or healthcare discipline or a related field and four to six years of legal, higher education or compliance work experience.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
