THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Post-Harvest, Sales, and Marketing Manager oversees post-harvest operations, sales, and marketing activities to support the Oxford College Organic Farm's mission and growth. This role ensures the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of farm produce while developing and implementing marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and increase revenue. Additionally, the position fosters community engagement and supports the farm's strategic goals through innovative sales and outreach initiatives.

 

Essential Duties Post-Harvest Operations:

  • Manages the handling, cleaning, sorting, packing, and storage of produce to maintain quality and ensure food safety standards.
  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of post-harvest facilities, including the cooler, washing fixtures, and packing areas.
  • Maintains accurate records of harvest yields, inventory, and distribution.

Sales & Revenue Management:

  • Develops and executes sales strategies to meet revenue goals, including direct sales, farmers markets, and subscription programs.
  • Manages customer relationships and ensures timely delivery of products.
  • Monitors pricing strategies to align with market trends and farm objectives.

Marketing & Community Engagement:

  • Designs and implements marketing campaigns to promote farm products and services, including social media, email newsletters, and community outreach events.
  • Enhances the farm's brand presence through innovative storytelling, partnerships, and promotional materials.
  • Organizes and participates in events such as farmers markets and community fairs.

Administrative & Leadership:

  • Collaborates with the Farmer/Educator to align post- harvest and marketing activities with the farm's strategic goals.
  • Trains and supervises staff and student workers in post-harvest operations and sales protocols.
  • Analyzes sales and operational data to inform decision-making and report on progress toward goals.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in agriculture, marketing, business, or a related field, and two years of experience in post-harvest handling, sales, or marketing, preferably in an agricultural or food production setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and organic certification requirements.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
