SUMMARY:

Program Associate will provide programming support, assist with data design and collection, plan and facilitate meetings and events, implement and coordinate the Rosalynn Carter Mental Health and Caregiver Program (RCMHCP) activities, including projects related to the Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health Journalism and the Mental Health Parity Newsroom Collaborative.  The Program Associate will assist with the development of budgets and proposals and manage grants and related project materials. They will also assist with intern selection and supervision, as needed. This position is reported to Senior Associate Director of RCJF.

 

 

FORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Primary duty is organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a global program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Assisting with conducting research by gathering, analyzing, and evaluating information on related issues, using documents, interviews, and consultations with specialists, advocates, government and non-governmental representatives.
    • Researches factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input.
  • Monitors and reports progress of objectives and goals of the program.
  • Develops work plans to accomplish objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.
  • Assists in monitoring assigned projects’ budgets by working with relevant program staff to generate budgets, manages vendors in payment system and process invoices,  tracks  expenses, and takes constructive action to ensure that budget is maintained.
  • Prepares operational and statistical reports to assist in effective decision-making.
  • Conducts training, represents the program at international meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.
  • May write or develop reports, speeches, briefings, newsletters, promotional materials, grants or other written materials related to the program.
  • Conducts research and gathers accurate information to develop various publications.
  • May plan, administer, or monitor the program's budget or related grants.
  • Develops promotional materials/venues, manages relational databases, and establishes/forecasts budget requirements.
  • May assist in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.
  • Attends relevant meetings, conferences, and may draft talking points and present to an audience.
  • May provide guidance and supervision to interns, student workers, and/or graduate assistant working on assigned projects.
  • Maintains professional growth and development of self by identifying educational/training programs, professional organizations, activities and resources to maintain knowledge of global trends and expertise. 
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Please note, this is not an administrative support position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior mental health program experience
  • Prior experience with website software and social media
  • Interest in journalism
  • Advanced organization skills

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines.  All non-exempt employees must reside within the state of Georgia. The Carter Center reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
