Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops biochemical and cell-based assays, with the use of such assays to perform high throughput screening of small molecule libraries.
  • Develops and executes lower throughput biochemical or cell-based assays for structural optimization of hit compounds.
  • Hands-on bench scientist. 
  • Communicates with biomedical investigators and medicinal chemists.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Responsibilities: 1) Lead the development, validation, and application of advanced microsimulation models for diabetes and other chronic diseases. 2) Conduct sophisticated analyses of large-scale electronic health record (EHR) databases such as VA and EPIC COSMOS to inform health outcomes research and policy. 3) Apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques using programming languages (R and/or Python) to develop predictive models and scalable data analysis solutions. 4) Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, clearly demonstrating expertise in microsimulation modeling and health analytics. 5) Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, epidemiologists, health economists, and data scientists, to translate model outcomes into actionable insights.
    Supports the acquisition, management and analysis of data from multiple sites or
    sources.
  • Supports the configuration and management of technology solutions supporting the receipt, transformation, validation and storage of data.
  • Ensures that the uses of data through reports and queries are appropriate.
  • Serves as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases by providing expertise to assist users in meeting their needs.
  • Develops automated quality control procedures to assess quality of data and provides reports to data owners. Works effectively within a group setting in areas of design of data collection instruments, database management, analysis of data, and creation of reports and dashboards. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Strong technical background.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience developing and implementing microsimulation models specifically tailored to diabetes and chronic disease management.
  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate expertise in microsimulation modeling and related analytical methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing complex, large-scale EHR datasets, with particular expertise in PCORnet and EPIC COSMOS datasets.
  • Advanced skills in machine learning, data analysis, and model implementation using R and/or Python.
  • PhD in a health-related discipline required.
  • Candidates with backgrounds in pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, or related fields are highly preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
