Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.
A full-time position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Joanna Goldberg in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University. This laboratory is located in the O. Wayne Rollins Research Center at Emory University in Atlanta, GA on the same floor as the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. This new position will help advance our group’s research efforts to identify and test novel therapeutics against bacterial pathogens.
Our laboratory studies bacterial pathogenesis with a particular focus on infections in people living with the inherited disease cystic fibrosis (CF). The researcher will lead and coordinate efforts along with our colleagues at Georgia Tech, at the University of Queensland, and at the University of Texas, Southwestern. Experiments involve bioinformatics, state of the art bacterial genetics/genomics, cell culture, and mouse models of infection. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for these assays models will be developed and validated. The long-term goal of this work is to devise rational methods to disrupt virulence and promote clearance of infecting bacteria, and thereby improve the lives of those living with CF.
