Winship is seeking qualified candidates for the Executive Director, Marketing and Communication position. Position details are as follows:

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Executive Director, Marketing and Communications for the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University serves as a senior leader responsible for driving a unified, strategic marketing and communications vision that elevates Winship's reputation, increases clinical volumes, advances research prominence, and fuels philanthropic support.
  • Reporting to the vice president, Integrated Marketing at Emory Healthcare and Winship's Chief Administrative Officer, the incumbent is a key member of Winship's leadership team and Emory.
  • This role leads the development and execution of integrated marketing, communications, and digital strategies across all audiences - patients, referring providers, researchers, donors, and the general public - spanning local, regional, national, and global spheres.
  • The Executive Director ensures alignment with enterprise-wide priorities and is accountable for results that drive institutional reputation, patient acquisition, physician engagement, research visibility, network development, and donor cultivation.
  • Strategic Marketing -Design and implement data-informed marketing strategies to increase patient volumes, grow market share, and strengthen Winship's brand equity within and beyond Georgia. -Translate enterprise strategic plans and cancer center business objectives into measurable marketing initiatives across B2C and B2B audiences.
  • Reputation Management -Elevate Winship's visibility and rankings by amplifying research breakthroughs, clinical innovations, and patient stories through national media, digital campaigns, and thought leadership.
  • Internal and external Communications. -Develop internal communication strategies that shape culture, align teams, and build a cohesive brand experience across care sites. -Serve as a strategic advisor and speechwriter for Winship leadership; ensure readiness for media opportunities and public appearances.
  • Research & Academic Integration -Collaborate with research leadership to position scientific discovery, clinical trials, and academic excellence as key pillars of the Winship brand. -Enhance trans-institutional research communications by linking Emory's schools, departments, and cancer-related initiatives.
  • Philanthropy & Government Relations -Partner with Development to craft compelling donor communications and steward philanthropic storytelling that reflects impact and mission alignment. -Guide communications in support of government affairs, strategic partnerships, and advocacy efforts.
  • Affiliate & Network Marketing -Strengthen Winship's regional footprint through strategic marketing support for affiliate institutions and network practices; ensure brand integrity across co-marketing efforts.
  • Leadership & Talent Development -Inspire, coach, and lead a high-performing, collaborative marketing and communications team committed to innovation, excellence, and impact. -Build a culture of accountability and performance with clear KPIs and outcome-based measurement.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership in healthcare marketing, ideally within an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center or academic medical center.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide marketing strategies, driving clinical volumes, and enhancing brand reputation. Knowledge of oncology, cancer research, and emerging care models.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, CRM/PRM platforms, media relations, data analytics, and marketing performance measurement.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee
