KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Reporting to the Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship, the Senior Director, Innovator in Residence will serve as a global influencer and strategic leader, spearheading initiatives to inspire and engage Emory students in innovation and entrepreneurship for The Hatchery.
  • As a veteran innovator, they will develop and execute transformative strategies, programs, and curricula designed to expand the pipeline of student entrepreneurs while elevating Emory's reputation as a thought leader in the global entrepreneurship ecosystem.
  • The Senior Director will also act as a catalyst for innovation throughout the Emory enterprise, leveraging expertise in STEM, biotechnology, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to transform The Hatchery's maker space into a world-class hub of entrepreneurial activity.
  • In this capacity, the Innovator in Residence will lead the design and delivery of co-curricular courses and specialized programs that support early-stage entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on biotechnology, STEM, and related fields.
  • They will also oversee efforts to secure external funding through strategic grant writing for agencies like NSF and NIH, while fostering a culture of mentorship through tailored coaching for students developing startups.
  • Dynamic programming, including entrepreneur clubs and discussions on emerging trends like AI and point-of-care diagnostics, will further position The Hatchery as a center for innovation and thought leadership. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience creating and directing innovation & entrepreneurship programs/initiatives OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
