Description

The Program Coordinator duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.
  • Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.
  • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
  • Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.
  • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.
  • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
  • Prepares operational and statistical reports.
  • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.
  • Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: 

  • Takes the lead on advising for numerous semester education abroad programs. Note that advising regions may change.
  • Study abroad advising involves discussions of academic progress/policies and course approvals, scholarship opportunities, health/safety, and cultural adaptation, as well as supporting students with questions while abroad.
  • Conducts advising for multiple faculty-led summer education abroad programs and supports visa processes for all summer education abroad students.
  • Supports outreach on behalf of education abroad.
  • Takes the lead on organizing general presentation materials for special events.
  • Updates webpages and application processes for all advising areas.
  • Supports pre-departure orientations, education abroad fair, classroom presentations, and other marketing/recruiting events within the University.
  • Develops and leads social media and other digital outreach efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience advising or mentoring college students or young adults.
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills and ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team.
  • Experience studying, working, or living in an intercultural environment (e.g., studying abroad or working with multicultural populations).
  • Demonstrated organizations and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, talent for effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple responsibilities, and aptitude for taking initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with other team members.
  • Strong technology skills (experience with social media management, Canva Pro, and/or Terra Dotta or a similar data management software is a plus).
  • Second language experience is a plus.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
