JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Working with faculty, directs, develops and oversees the Masters of Science Program in Computer Science in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, human language technology, human computer interaction, data mining, database, privacy, and high-end computing. Responsible for program design and implementation.
- Direct strategic planning and implementation for the program. Manage program operations to ensure program quality.
- Oversee student engagement and progress. May oversee and/or teach one or more courses. Contributes to course content taught in the program. Address student learning concerns. Cultivate and oversee global industry partnerships for the program.
- Identifies program faculty and industry-relevant team projects for students. Responsible for mentoring course directors and program faculty instructors.
- Responsible for developing/maintaining a project mentor roster from the industry/academia. Provide/foster student connections with Atlanta area and national employers.
- Participate in associated administration of a Laney Graduate School program. Maintain associated academic program accreditations. May supervise staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or equivalent, advanced degree related to the program work and five years of related experience required. Experience at large technological company or startup preferred.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
The director will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty to expand and fully develop its master’s
programs offerings. The faculty currently offer a residential 4-semester MS program, and the program director will
be responsible for working with faculty to consider and develop other program structures that will appeal to
qualified individuals who are not able to accommodate a fulltime, residential program.
The new program will be designed to provide training in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, human language technology, human computer interaction, data mining, database, privacy, and high-end computing and will provide connections with Atlanta area and national employers. We expect the curriculum will be designed to provide program graduates with training that provides a competitive advantage as they seek careers in industry.
Responsibilities include working closely with faculty and staff to:
- Develop and oversee program direction, student engagement and progress
- Design a program architecture that develops the next generation industry talent
- Oversee program operations and ensure program quality
- Facilitate program continuity and overall organization of program
