THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

 

The Associate Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic and operational partner to the top HR position in a school or division ensuring efficient daily HR operations, advancing critical initiatives, and driving alignment between HR strategy and institutional goals. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Supervises HR staff to deliver core services while overseeing cross-functional projects, policy implementation, and process improvements.
  • Oversees daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, classification, and records management.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional policies, federal/state regulations, and best practices.
  • Translates high-level HR strategies into actionable plans; monitors progress and reports outcomes.
  • Manages complex projects such as workforce planning, compensation analysis, and process redesign.
  • Leads initiatives that promote organizational efficiency and a positive employee experience.
  • Develops and executes internal HR communication strategies to support change adoption.
  • Acts as a liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and engagement.
  • Monitors and analyzes HR metrics to support data-informed decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies and implements process enhancements.
  • Maintains HR documentation, SOPs, and dashboards to support transparency and accountability.
  • Serves as second-in-command for the HR department; represents HR in meetings or committees, as needed.
  • Provides guidance and decision-making support in the absence of the HR Leader.
  • Cultivates a culture of collaboration, innovation, and service excellence within the HR team.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field and six years of progressively responsible HR experience which includes supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in managing operations, HR projects, and team leadership.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred qualifications include HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, Prosci), experience in higher education or a similarly complex environment, knowledge of change management training systems and/or Lean Six Sigma certification or process improvement experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience, with at least 3–5 in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in higher education or a similarly matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated success in employee relations, change management, and leadership development.
