Description

The Goizueta Business School is in search of an Assistant Director of Communications and Operations working with the BBA Career Management Center (CMC). This position reports to the Assistant Dean & Executive Director, BBA Career Management Center.

 

CAREER COACHING & ACADEMIC ADVISING – 30%

  • Provide career education and counseling to undergraduate business students.
  • Engage in 1:1 career coaching with undergraduate business students; support BBA CMC programming.
  • Provide academic advising and course planning for an assigned caseload of undergraduate business students.

CMC OPERATIONS – 20%

  • Manage the centralized CMC Canvas page to house job search tools, student opportunities, office events, and appointment resources.
  • Manage student import process and create events in career services management system (Handshake).
  • Primary departmental liaison with Handshake and Emory Career and Professional Development regarding Handshake issues.
  • Assist employers, students, and staff with Handshake questions and issues.
  • Create and maintain resume books in Handshake and send to employers as needed.
  • Track calendar of events for all related groups – BBA CMC, BBA Program Office, Goizueta and Emory Alumni Associations, Academic Calendar, Graduate CMC.
  • Select, purchase, and manage inventory of CMC marketing materials, alumni and employer gifts, and other promotional items.
  • Maintain neat and orderly appearance of the CMC’s physical office space, including replenishment of handouts and supplies.
  • Manage CMC recruiting pods for student use during recruitment.
  • Serve as departmental purchasing card user.

EVENT PLANNING & PROGRAMMATIC SUPPORT – 30%

  • Event planning and execution support including room reservations, catering arrangements, marketing/promotion, and day-of logistics and execution.
  • Assist with logistics and details of career treks; travel to support career treks and alumni events on an as needed basis.
  • Assist with operations and delivery of BUS 380 Professional Development course, including creating Handshake schedules for resume reviews/practice interviews/alumni panels.
  • Support operations of CMC student coach program, including participation in staff selection and training, event logistics for trainings and meetings, and provide other support as needed.

COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING – 20%

  • Manage all BBA CMC external email accounts and shared department calendars; check inboxes daily and distribute/respond to messages appropriately.
  • Manage external website, BBA CMC Canvas; execute daily/weekly Canvas announcements and updates to students.
  • Leverage Canvas, social media, and other channels to market/promote CMC programs, services, student staff positions, and other opportunities.
  • Primary departmental liaison with Marketing & Communications for external website, employment reports, and other collateral.
  • Create engaging content and update all social media platforms daily/weekly.
  • Create content for weekly CMC Canvas announcement to all students during the academic year to promote on-campus recruiting events, internship & full-time opportunities, club programming, and CMC workshops.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the on-campus recruiting program for a school or division. Develops the overall recruitment strategy.
  • Establishes and maintains corporate contacts with directors, human resources managers and vice presidents.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between corporate recruiters, students and the career center.
  • Determines employer needs and manages the logistics of the on-campus recruiting program including interviews, corporate presentations and job fairs.
  • Resolves space, equipment and scheduling issues.
  • Develops strategies to ensure effective communication between students, recruiters and the career center.
  • Prepares statistical reports to track student placements and other trends.
  • Manages web-based student software that communicates on-campus recruiting information to students.
  • Coordinates special projects as necessary.
  • Supervises student staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience in career planning and placement or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business undergraduate degree or master’s in higher education, counseling, or similar preferred.
  • Proficiency with Handshake, Canvas LMS, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Coordinates special projects as necessary.
  • Supports BBA CMC and BBA Program Office programming efforts.
  • Some evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Some travel – approximately 10%.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
