Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Administers comprehensive physical therapy services to patients.
  • Provides direct patient care, testing analyses, and evaluations of seriously ill patients or those having complex medical problems, and formulates a treatment plan which is consistent with the patient's needs.
  • Communicates regularly with others involved in the patient's care.
  • Provides consultation and direct assistance to staff and physicians in the management of patients.
  • Follows established protocols for documentation. Utilizes community resources to plan for the continued care, support and follow-up of the patient after discharge.
  • Assists in supervising staff and students and in developing in-service training programs for continuing staff development.
  • Assesses or assists staff in assessing complex patient's problems.
  • Observes organizational and universal standards for sterile technique and infection control in carrying out daily responsibilities.
  • Assists in developing, evaluating and revising policies and procedures.
  • Supports quality assurance by ensuring that daily practices are consistent with established standards for patient care research.
  • Assists in developing staff schedules, conducting in-service education, and training staff and students. Properly maintains equipment and work areas.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • The Physical Therapist focuses on improving function, managing pain, and preventing future issues in patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize outcomes.
  • The PT will conduct thorough assessments of patients with bleeding disorders, considering their specific needs and limitations as well as develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient's condition and goals.
  • The PT will implement physical therapy interventions, including exercise programs, manual therapy, and modalities, to address pain, improve mobility, and restore function.
  • Educate patients and families on proper techniques for managing bleeding episodes and preventing future complications by providing guidance on activities and exercises that are safe and appropriate for individuals with bleeding disorders.
  • The PT will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education and support throughout the rehabilitation process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited physical therapy school by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
  • Licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Georgia.
  • Two years of experience as a physical therapist.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
