This position leads highly complex technical teams that may include Business Analysts, Project Managers, Information Architects, Data Analysts, and Database Administrators.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees projects to deliver quality applications and components within scope, on time, and within budget and compliance requirements.
- Ensures that informatics systems support and advance the research objectives and mission of the department.
- Proactively identifies emerging technologies, develops proof-of-concepts, and promotes the adoption of these technologies.
- Develops new subject areas in business intelligence tools based on physical data sources and user requirements.
- Creates strategies for managing and maintaining data standards and metadata.
- Applies biomedical informatics standards, methodologies, and principles to meet research program needs, objectives, and outcomes.
- Forms tactical strategies to meet client goals and develops reporting infrastructure to support multiple client needs.
- Produces architecture documentation for current and proposed informatics solutions.
- Establishes collaborative relationships with subject matter experts and becomes an expert in assigned data sets.
- Follows standard operating procedures and HIPAA regulations.
- Develops standard operating procedures related to technical standards and data quality.
- Develops strategies for managing complex data sets through consistent data standards and metadata maintenance.
- Creates standard templates for data product documentation related to current and future data analytics solutions.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- IT experience in a healthcare or university setting is preferred.
- Experience in designing data management solutions within a variety of system environments.
- Technical certification is preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of clinical research data, EHR systems, or neuroscience/brain health datasets, certification in Epic Cogito preferred, but not required.
- Experience in an academic medical center or research setting with understanding of healthcare data governance and regulatory frameworks for research.
- Experience with OMOP Common Data Model (CDM) and data mapping - including mapping from source systems to OMOP standardized vocabularies, ETL processes for OMOP transformation, and experience with USAGI tool for vocabulary mapping preferred.
- Research data request management - experience coordinating and fulfilling data requests from researchers, managing data access approvals, and facilitating collaborative research data sharing.
- Experience with cloud analytics and data warehouse platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), and agile methodologies, including Jira
