Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.
Global Services, which is part of Emory’s Global Engagement office, serves as a single point of contact for faculty and staff needing assistance with the business and administrative aspects of global work (e.g., project staffing, international payments, hosting visitors). The Assistant Director acts as the primary contact for faculty and staff needing such assistance; engages with them to understand their project needs; and works to develop associated answers and resolutions. The Assistant Director interacts regularly with a team of subject matter experts from across the university who assist Global Services with the issue resolution process. The Assistant Director should have familiarity with global operations management areas including regulatory compliance, procedure for international agreements and contracts, issues related to global project budgeting (exchange-rate fluctuations, cash management, forecasting, reconciliation, etc.), as well as matters related to travel logistics and working abroad.
The Assistant Director also works to identify ways in which policies, processes, and resources can most effectively support international work, working to elevate them to EGE leadership and to develop standardized processes, procedures, and resources. The Assistant Director networks with external resources, such as professionals at other universities and agencies.
The person in this role must maintain an attitude of customer service; convey an eagerness to solve problems and seek practical solutions, working to scale solutions as practicable; respect the particular process and compliance considerations that international work can entail; and demonstrate an appreciation for work that can involve engaging with diverse partners in challenging circumstances.
