Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the strategic planning, development, and implementation of program.
  • Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies.
  • Represents the program in various national and international fora.
  • Conducts research, designs new initiatives, writes publishable articles and papers, collaborates with others, and designs programs.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in field related to specific program as indicated and five years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Master's degree preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • The Tam Institute for Jewish Studies (TIJS) at Emory University, established in 1999 to bring together students and scholars in the interdisciplinary exploration of Jewish civilization and culture, is the largest Jewish Studies program in the southern United States.

  • Works closely with Director and faculty of the Tam Institute for Jewish Studies (TIJS), an interdisciplinary academic and programming unit of the Emory College of Arts and Sciences, to develop, design, and implement initiatives and activities to further program’s mission in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and community engagement, and to strengthen ties between the program and its constituents.   • Manages program’s operational, fiscal, and personnel activities, including preparation of budget and annual program reports; management of accounts; staff
    hiring, training, and evaluation; and HR-related tasks.

  • Supervises work of staff in program’s two main focus areas -- academic programs and communications/public events to insure smooth functioning of activities, observance of best practices and university and ECAS policies, meeting of strategic goals, and timely completion of annual tasks.

  • Fosters and maintains relationships with Emory schools, divisions, departments, programs, student organizations, administrators, and other leaders of initiatives in order to build the program’s public profile, initiate partnerships, and build opportunities for strategic collaboration on campus.

  • Fosters and maintains relationships with off-campus community organizations, foundations, governmental agencies, and individuals in order to build program’s
    public profile, initiate partnerships, and build opportunities for strategic collaboration in Atlanta, nationally, and internationally.

  • Fosters and maintains relationships with potential, current, and past donors, including alumni and charitable foundations, in order to foster opportunities for major gifts and other forms of institutional advancement.

  • Works with central advancement offices to identify and cultivate prospects for major gifts; maintains information on potential, current, and past donors; and assists in annual stewardship reporting.

  • Works with other staff to implement logistics (room setup, catering, A/V, etc.) and provide on-sight supervision for annual public events.

  • May write or assist others in writing promotional materials, articles, press releases, and web content.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strongly prefer a candidate with five years of experience
    in higher education, development, fundraising, management, or equivalent experience in a non-profit institution

  • Effective writing and public speaking skills

  • Supervisory experience required

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
