Are you interested in a career in health sciences librarianship? The Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library internship will give you exposure to key aspects of working in a busy library focused on the health sciences academic programs at Emory University. You'll learn about complex literature searching, shadow our informationists during teaching and instruction, develop educational materials for library patrons, and work on an independent project of your choosing. This internship will give you foundational experience in the academic library space and will prepare you for future opportunities in librarianship.
This internship is for 20 hours a week for 10 weeks. While this is a primarily on-site position in our Atlanta library, there may be opportunity for occasional remote work throughout the summer. 
 
Key Responsibilities & Objectives
  • Create and update subject-specific research guides for health sciences students
  • Develop a recorded instructional session on a topic of your choice
  • Learn about the systematic review process and complex literature searching
  • Shadow informationists in various library units including reference, instruction, outreach, clinical, and access services
  • Staff information desk
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and positive and professional attitude
  • Flexible and team-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in academic librarianship and health sciences
  • Pursuing MLIS/MLS or related post-graduate degree in library science
  • Background in or knowledge of academic and scientific research processes
 
It is open to any undergraduate degree. Preference is given to graduate students in an MLS or MLIS program.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
