The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of soliciting alumni, donor engagement, donor research, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Director of Portfolio Management.
Prospect Development and Stewardship supports the Advancement and Alumni Engagement division by identifying major funders for university initiatives, providing research, and preparing leadership briefings, overseeing portfolio management, and proposal management. This position will report to the Senior Director of Portfolio Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees and implements strategic prospect and portfolio management initiatives in support of institutional priorities, with a particular focus on principal and transformational gift fundraising efforts.
- Assists leadership in developing the framework of a principal gift portfolio management program, including prospect moves management, prospect strategy, and pipeline meetings.
- Implements a research-driven prospect management and tracking program to help guide the identification, cultivation, and solicitation and stewardship of principal gift prospects in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
- Conducts regular portfolio meetings with fundraisers to ensure portfolios are filled with the most promising prospects, balanced by fundraising stage, age, capacity, inclination and other indicators to maximize return on fundraising efforts.
- Creates and interprets reports to ensure timely delivery of principal gift fundraising activity, pipeline, and ad hoc report analysis to leadership.
- Develops processes to evaluate principal gift officer portfolios and sets standards for quality control with the goal of placing the right prospects with the right development officers, optimizing the distribution of constituents to maximize gift yield.
- Provides leadership and guidance related to best practices for prospect development and relationship management, serving as a resource to leadership regarding prospect tracking and portfolio analysis.
- Synthesizes and analyzes prospect data, conducts and reviews audits, and monitors data integrity for the purpose of improving the quality of the prospect-specific data.
- May manage, train, coach, and mentor staff and provide opportunities for professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- This position requires coming in person two days a week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in prospect development, advancement services, or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience managing a dynamic prospect and portfolio management program, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with data visualization software and CRM systems.
- Experience working in prospect development with diverse prospect pools, particularly alumni, parents, grateful patients, and community members.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to work in a demanding, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and the flexibility to accommodate changing priorities.
- Experience leading and developing staff, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, and building effective partnerships across diverse groups.
- Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
