The Healthy Food Retail Research Team at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health is seeking up to four highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented candidates to support data collection efforts in retail food stores in the Atlanta Metro in GA. The team is conducting a study to investigate retailer response to recent changes to SNAP programming requirements via retail food store audits. Candidates should reside in the Atlanta Metro, where data collection will take place in retail food stores. Eligible candidates must have access to a personal smartphone, a valid driver’s license, and a personal vehicle. Mileage costs accrued during the course of the study will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete mandatory data collection training;
• Conduct field audits at stores across Atlanta Metro region. Data will be collected via smartphone through an offline mobile app;
• Document, maintain, and upload data and collect and maintain photographic evidence;
• Professional and responsible representation of the Healthy Food Retail Research Team and Emory University.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, nutrition or related social science field - master’s degree preferred
• A minimum of one-year related research experience
• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks with minimal oversight
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Software literacy in programs such as Word and Excel, and Internet application
• Previous experience conducting in-store audits is preferred but not required
• Training will be provided prior to the start of data collection.

Time Commitment and Compensation:

• Oct-Nov, possible extension into future months for other remote-based work (i.e., will not involve visiting retailers)
• Training (10/15-10/31) – 2 consecutive weeks at 10-20 hours/week
• Data collection (11/01-11/25) – 3.5 consecutive weeks in Nov at 30-40 hours/week (hours dependent on work), break Thanksgiving holiday, possible extension into 11/28-11/30 depending on store completions by Thanksgiving
• The wage for this position is $25/hour.
• This position is not eligible for benefits.
• Possible extensions to remote-based work in December-March discussed in mid-November.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
