Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reports to the Vice President for Campus Services overseeing all maintenance, grounds and custodial operations for the university, including the Oxford, Briarcliff and Clairmont campuses.
  • Responsible for the campus utility infrastructure.
  • Provides leadership in the creation of a short and long term energy strategy to reduce utility consumption, while ensuring high quality, reliable and affordable utilities for the campus.
  • Functional areas include preventive maintenance, grounds, roads and hardscape, building services, waste management, recycling, steam plant, HVAC, engineering, controls, security systems and zone maintenance.
  • Oversees negotiation of contracts for safety, environmental and maintenance operations.
  • Manages a staff and also has indirect supervision of approximately 650 employees, working three shifts.
  • Some operations are scheduled 24/7.
  • Responsible for addressing all emergency situations arising in the facilities area.
  • Participates in formulating and implementing strategic decisions for Campus Services.
  • Provides leadership in enterprise-wide visioning and implementation of sustainability initiatives.
  • Assists Vice President with projecting, allocating and adjusting staffing levels and organizational structure to meet changing conditions.
  • Oversees the development of policies and procedures for Facilities Management.
  • Interacts with internal /external customers and makes presentations to departments and campus constituents on facility related topics.
  • Represents Campus Services on university committees.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or a related field required.
  • A master's degree is preferred. Ten years of experience in building operation and maintenance which includes progressive, demonstrated management/supervisory experience. 
  • A working knowledge of capital construction and federal, state and local building codes.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
