Reporting to the Associate Director for Research Programs within the Department's Research Division, the Manager, Programs and Research provides operational, administrative, and programmatic leadership in support of the Division's research, scholarly, and academic missions. This position serves as a key partner to Research Division leadership by coordinating business operations, supporting strategic initiatives, facilitating collaboration across stakeholders, and leading projects that advance divisional priorities. The position serves as an administrative deputy to divisional leadership and plays an important role in ensuring the effective execution of research-related initiatives, programs, and operations. The Manager, Programs and Research Operations supports a broad portfolio of activities that enable research faculty, trainees, and research programs to succeed. Working closely with faculty, departmental leaders, trainees, and institutional partners, the position helps coordinate operational planning, divisional reporting and analysis, faculty recruitment and onboarding activities, facilities and space-related initiatives, research education collaborations, communications, and special projects. The position serves as a central resource for divisional events, faculty engagement initiatives, educational partnerships, and operational planning efforts. Through strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and data-informed decision-making, the Manager helps ensure the Research Division remains responsive to organizational needs while supporting faculty productivity, collaboration, and academic advancement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages administrative and research activities in support of a specialized program or research center.
- Develops plans for program growth and development and serves as a liaison to various committees or organizations.
- May oversee the planning, logistics and implementation of various special events such as lectures, seminars, conferences, or research projects.
- Participates in developing and implementing various program related communications such as websites, publications, multimedia or video productions.
- May hire and supervise administrative or research related staff.

- Assists with research space, equipment, facilities, and operational planning activities in collaboration with departmental and institutional partners.
- Coordinates faculty and staff recruitment-related activities, hiring logistics, onboarding processes, and workforce planning initiatives that support divisional growth and success.
- Supports educational and faculty development initiatives, including collaborations with residency, fellowship, and research training programs.
- Plans and coordinates divisional meetings, lectures, seminars, visiting professorships, research showcases, faculty recognition activities, and other special events.
- Develops and maintains presentations, reports, communications, websites, and other materials that support divisional operations and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborates with faculty, trainees, administrators, and institutional partners to identify operational needs and implement solutions that improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Leads and coordinates special projects and initiatives assigned by Research Division leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in business or related field.
- Five years of professional experience in a related field such as business administration, research, or information systems management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education administration, Research Administration, or a related field.
- Additional preferred qualifications include experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Academic medical center, research-intensive environment, higher education institution, healthcare organization, or research administration setting.
- Supporting research programs, faculty affairs, academic administration, business operations, or strategic initiatives.
- Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting operational, programmatic, or research-related data to support decision-making.
- Supporting research space planning or resource allocation initiatives.
- Planning and executing conferences, seminars, lectureships, or other academic events.
- Developing reports, dashboards, presentations, or other stakeholder-facing materials.
- Managing multiple complex projects simultaneously while collaborating with faculty, trainees, administrators, and institutional partners.
