The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst.
The Budget and Finance Operations team supports all Advancement and Alumni Engagement departments by providing non-gift financial services to the division, including but not limited to budget management and reporting, disbursement management, cell phone account management, procurement, and contract management. This position will report to the Executive Director of Budget and Finance Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates major financial reporting and budgeting activities.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and reporting requirements.
- Coordinates the correction of account balances, resolves funding issues and maintains proper accounting controls and procedures.
- Makes recommendations to management related to long-range financial and cash flow analyses.
- Prepares and analyzes statistical and financial reports, financial statements and supporting schedules.
- May assist in preparing, developing and monitoring department/organizational budgets.
- May maintain grant agreements, policies and guidelines; coordinate grant reporting requirements; review grant funding source compliance; and negotiate grant funding with awarding agencies.
- May perform indirect cost analysis.
- May hire, train, and supervise a small staff.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Senior Financial Analyst may be required to:
- Provide support across all verticals on the team as well as to division financial stakeholders.
- Responsible for turning financial and operational data into clear reporting, forecasts, and decision support.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows to improve data quality, reduce manual efforts across verticals by utilizing technology solutions, document processes, and train users.
- Build and maintain a cross-team tracking solution for contract and vendor management.
- Represent the division working with other departments, schools, and units across the University.
- This position requires coming in person two days a week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or a related field and four years of financial analyst or accounting experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel skills such as pivot tables, advanced lookups and formulas, and structured models) and building or maintaining dashboards/automated reporting (e.g., Power BI or Tableau).
- Experience managing budgets, producing financial reports and analyses, and explaining variances to non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience with enterprise systems and tools including PeopleSoft financials, Oracle business intelligence, Jaggaer, and Salesforce.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience leading programs, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Prior experience in administrative management, advancement, fundraising, campaign, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
