    One of Emory’s nine academic divisions, Oxford College provides 950 first and second-year students with a liberal arts intensive program for the first two years of the Emory baccalaureate degree. The College is fully residential on Emory’s historic campus 36 miles east of Atlanta. 


    Job Overview:


    The Residence Life Coordinator of Facilities & Operations position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the residential community including facilities and building projects. This position will act as the point of contact for students and vendors on a daily basis with regard to housing operations. This position will be supervised by the Assistant Director and will assist with occupancy management and housing operation projects. The departmental philosophy emphasizes leadership, service, community building, and faculty interaction. The ideal candidate should view this position as an opportunity to mentor and role model positive interpersonal and professional behaviors for students.  The ideal candidate needs to possess a demonstrated commitment to diversity and working with diverse populations. A high level of visibility and interaction with students is expected.



    • Supervise, train, and evaluate front desk student workers
    • Coordinate residential inspections with Facilities Management and Building & Residential Services staff
    • Oversee reporting and follow up of maintenance and building service concerns
    • Maintain inspection documentation, and damage assessment and perform any necessary follow-up
    • Manage furniture inventory for residential facilities and recommend and order additional inventory
    • Respond to student and parents/families residential custodial and facilities inquiries and concerns
    • Participate in the development of short and long term maintenance, custodial, construction and renovation goals
    • Assist the Assistant Director with hall opening/closing and interim housing
    • Assist the Assistant Director with training residence hall staff on residence hall opening/closing, interim housing, facilities management, and facility administration topics
    • Assist the Assistant Director with housing lottery, health & safety inspections, and room changes
    • Implement programs to prevent vandalism and assess damage/vandalism charges for area, if needed
    • Counsel students with regard to housing-related issues
    • Attend campus events to emphasize a collaborative effort in education
    • Assist in selection and training of student staff
    • Serve as a conduct officer for the College
    • Maintain and support the College’s philosophy of conduct
    • Participate in emergency “on-call” rotation and duties
    • Attend departmental and Campus Life meetings, including area meetings
    • Assist with departmental administrative tasks and coordinate assigned departmental projects
    • Participation in other Campus Life and College activities
    • Opportunity to co-facilitate a first year seminar

    • Develops, presents, tracks and evaluates educational programs for students in designed residential communities.
    • Manages the daily operation of undergraduate and/or graduate residential facilities.
    • May hire, train, and supervise interns and graduate and undergraduate resident directors.
    • Serves as a conduct officer for the campus.
    • Adjudicates all levels of conduct cases including suspension and expulsion from the campus.
    • Advises resident hall directors on the proper adjudicating techniques and sanctions.
    • Serves as the first point of contact for students' parents regarding housing situations.
    • May coordinate Housing's involvement in campus life activities.
    • Serves on and chairs committees to develop long range goals and strategic plans.
    • Counsels students on mental health issues, as necessary, and is involved in the referral and follow up of residents to mental health professionals.
    • Serves as a liaison between faculty, academic department leadership and students.
    • May coordinate renovation, repair and maintenance needs of designated residential facilities.
    • May teach a resident assistant class. Manages special projects.
    • Serves in the rotation of on-call staff who respond to emergencies involving students.
    • May represent Housing at admission preview days and act as a liaison with the Admission office for student visits.
    • May manage a programming budget.
    • Performs related responsibilities as required. 


    • A bachelor's degree in student personnel, higher education, counseling or a related field.
    • A master's degree is preferred. 
    • One year of residential life, housing, or programming experience.
    • Must be able to live in a residence hall or other on-campus housing facility.

    Additonal Details

    The position includes year-round housing consisting of a two-bedroom furnished apartment and residence hall, and a dining hall meal-plan according to the Fall, Spring, and Summer student semesters schedule.
