    JOB DESCRIPTION: Leads, manages and supervises Information Technology (IT) and operations in an integral IT area. Has overall responsibility for a specific IT area including leading specific IT projects and implementation of new versions of software, management of systems and coordination with other IT projects across the division. Is accountable for a specific product and technical environment. Advises management on issues within the specific area that impact the division and enterprise-wide IT services. Ensures compliance and uniform, transparent systems across the division and enterprise by working closely with other area managers and directors. Implements uniform administrative procedures and systems throughout a division. Hires, trains and supervises staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree and seven years of related IT experience including demonstrated technical expertise in specific IT areas, project management skills and lead or supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Extensive experience in the implementation and production support of an enterprise system.

    Additonal Details

    Preferred Qualifications: The Senior Manager of Information Technology Services reports to Candler’s Chief Business Officer (CBO), and is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive IT and Digital Instruction strategy for Candler. The Senior Manager has a dotted line reporting relationship to Emory’s Deputy Chief Information Officer.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Oversee operations of Candler’s Department of Information Technology and manage information technology and audio-visual resources at Candler, which includes the Cannon Chapel and the Pitts Theology Library.

    • Oversee the administration of and access to organization-wide data, information systems, hardware/software, and network connectivity.

    • Develop and implement effective strategies to prevent data loss and for disaster recovery.

    • Develop and maintain organizational structure, resources, policy and standards to better serve and meet the technology needs of Candler business units, programs, administrative offices, academic departments, and individual faculty and staff.

    • Manage and have ultimate accountability for Candler’s annual IT operating budget and IT reserve account.  Report regularly to CBO regarding budget forecasts and performance, ensuring the annual operating budget is not exceeded.

    • Act as initial and primary point of contact for all Candler technology purchases. Maintain, in cooperation with the chief business officer, an appropriate “refresh” cycle for hardware and software based on the needs of departments, classrooms, meeting rooms, faculty and staff.

    • Work collaboratively with the administration, faculty, and staff to determine and provide superior technology solutions that improve business and library processes, academic research, and teaching methods.  Existing examples of such technology solutions include SLATE CRM, Online Education, Events Office projects, etc.

    • Provide superior and consistent technology support services by deploying service models that take advantage of centralized IT management and cost efficiencies while maintaining school focus and service levels.

    • Work collaboratively with other units and resources available at Emory and beyond to develop institution-wide training programs designed to improve technical acumen of faculty and staff.

    • Establish cooperative relationships with other Emory IT departments and represent Candler on appropriate Emory IT committees and boards, including Emory’s IT Planning Council.

    • Establish planning sessions and meeting schedules with Candler faculty and staff as needed in leading the Department of Information Technology.

    • Conduct regular assessments of Candler’s IT performance, reporting metrics and results to CBO.

    • Define and establish authority over use and security of technology equipment in current buildings (Rita Anne Rollins Building, Cannon Chapel, and Pitts Theology Library).

    • Manage the AV resources in the Cannon Chapel and oversee audio, video, and live streaming support for Candler School of Theology and facilitate the use of those resources by the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL).

     •Serve as member of the University IT Planning Council (ITPC), and other university IT governance committees, to represent Candler in university IT initiatives and ensure continued leveraging of Library and Information Technology Services resource.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field
    • Minimum of seven years of experience in a university, seminary or related setting
    • Familiarity with theological education preferred
    • Strategic thinker capable of carrying out a visionary approach
    • Strong leader able to build and manage a team of diverse technologists
    • Demonstrated expertise with developing and implementing comprehensive technology solutions, and management practices associated with this work
    • Strong communicator able to “translate” technical information to non-technical audiences and provide sound guidance and efficient, practical IT solutions to Candler/Pitts business and academic departments, units and offices
    • Experience in developing digital instruction/distance learning
    • Outstanding customer service skills
