    JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs routine laboratory and general clerical tasks necessary for daily operation of laboratory. Collects, prepares, cleans and stores glassware and other lab equipment. Stocks and prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions and stains. Maintains records and files. Sets up laboratory and research equipment as directed. Assists research and laboratory personnel with experiments and procedures. Performs related responsibilities as required. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent. One year of related experience.




    1. Experience working with HIV/AIDS research, prevention, or treatment
    2. Ability to work independently and strong organizational skills
    3. Familiarity with communities of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men
    4. Experience in shipping and handling laboratory specimens.

    This job is part of the PRISM Health team at Rollins. Through the confluence of behavioral, social science, epidemiology and biomedical research, Programs Research Innovation in Sexual Minority Health (PRISM) undertakes quality science, innovative research, and evidence-based programming to better understand and improve the sexual health of sexual minority populations, with a focus on HIV.


     Key Responsibilities:

    1. Handling and shipping laboratory specimens.
    2. Manage specimen tracking using Open Specimen system and monitoring shipped specimens for testing and storage.
    3. Maintain database records of specimens.
    4. Perform point of care testing on samples as needed and manage quality control/assurance.
    5. Work with the full study team on study components related to the lab.

    Project Description:

    HealthMindr, ePrEP and PrEP@Home are all mobile app based projects designed to increase the uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among men who have sex with men in the US over 12 months of follow-up with quarterly assessments. Participants will be using home test kits to self-collect samples and send to us for testing.


    Work Hours:

    Tuesdays – 5:30pm – 10:30pm

    Thursdays – 8:00am – 4:00pm

    Saturdays – 9:30am – 2:00pm
